Course Delivery

This course will be delivered in the workplace or at a Green Cross First Aid training facility.

Course Duration

  • Face to face – 3 hours (minimum) – full face to face course.
  • Blended delivery – 2 hours (minimum) face to face course – with the addition of 1-hour self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course.
  • Refresher training – 2 hours (minimum) – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates.

Work Placement Arrangements

No work placement will be required as part of this course.

Assessment Requirements

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.

Entry Requirements

Participants must have the physical fitness to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration such as assisting a casualty into the correct position and administering asthma medication.

What happens at the course?

Assessment Activities

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following:
    • Simulated Scenario – Breathing difficulties (Asthma)
    • Performance Task – Administer asthma medication without a spacer
  • Practical scenarios – The student must complete the following to the appropriate standard:
    • Asthma Incident Report Form
    • Asthma Risk Assessment Form
    • Individual Management Plan
  • Theory assessment –  A written exam consisting of multiple choice and short answer questions. All questions must be completed. Model responses are provided later in this document.
